Hands-on supervisor overseeing import and export operations, with a clear path to senior management.
About the role
Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will oversee outbound and inbound shipments, train the operations team in best practice and keep import, export and warehouse teams working as one. Key duties include X-ray screening documentation and coordination, export operations, terminal deliveries, invoicing, CTO reconciliation, payroll and rostering, plus import cover on Mondays and Tuesdays.
What you will do
- Negotiate airline space and rates with carriers and overseas partners
- Run daily reports and resolve open files and shipments held in transit
- Supervise export pallet building for space, packing and safe handling
- Ensure jobs are invoiced and costed within 24 hours
- Manage claims and escalate significant issues
- Complete dangerous goods acceptance checks and on-the-job training
- Oversee cargo receipt, dispatch, sorting and security screening (ETD and X-ray)
- Lead the team to respond to calls and emails within two hours
What you will bring
- Import and export operations experience; leadership experience preferred
- Current DG Acceptance, QAP and Aviation Security qualifications
- In-depth freight forwarding knowledge
- Understanding of pallet sizes, weight limits and weight balancing
- Availability for regular overtime and weekend work
